I. INTRODUCTION


I am very glad you've decided to join our community and family. The Sacred Snitch offers you many opportunities for your character to take part of, however please make sure to read all of the rules. If you are confused on how to create your character, please take a look at the Newbie Guide Book, if you're still confused then please contact a mentor, one of the Headmasters or post in the Help Board.

Now, let's move on to the good stuff...

II. THE RACES


This forum is multi-race, open to the following races: Muggle, Wizard, Witch, Vampire, Werewolf and Elf. Other races will not be allowed, so please do not ask. Upon submitting your application, you will be asked the race of your character, by selecting a race and submitting your application, you agree to the following terms for each race. A Race Specialist will be moderating the boards look for inappropriate and unlawful behavior of races. We understand some people view fictional races different than others, like for example: Your vampire may be able to go into the light, while another persons can't. However, we have come up some race guidelines that you must follow or your right to place the race will be stripped.

Muggle/Humans: Well, I'm sure you got this part down, if not... well I can't say anything to that. No human/muggle can conduct any sort of super natural, magical or fictional power. If you are a scientist and can invent a hover car, good for you! Just don't use magic to do it, use science.

Wizard and Witch: As seen in the Harry Potter novels, we expect that of these wizards and witches. To produce magic you must use a wand, and wandless magic must be approved to you from the Headmaster in order to do so, because it is a very powerful skill, and that goes with mind-reading and dueling.

Vampires: Vampires are immortal; meaning the cycle of life does not affect them. They were either originally human or wizard, witch or elf bitten by a vampire and thus, turned into one. It is fairly known and will be expected that vampires drink blood, have fair/pale skin and have urges (to kill) that are controllable, but very hard to do so. They do not have magical powers like a wizard, even if they started as one, but do have other skills like speed, strength and perhaps, night vision (if you follow the bat theory and/or can't be in the sun).

Werewolves: These are often called Lycan(throps) but not here. In the Harry Potter series they are called werewolves, however if you use the term we aren't going to execute you. (hehe). Werewolves have a normal human figure, but can instantly change into a large wolf-like appearance whether there is a need to feed or (if you follow this) there is a full moon. We understand these urges are great, much like a vampires, however they can be controlled, but not that easily. They posses no magical power (unless born a wizard), except other skills like strength, speed, sense of smell and many others. They are often thought as immortal, however they are not, but live a very long time.

Elves: Even though these were never mentioned in the books, we decided to adopt them due to their similarities to Wizards. Elves are known to be a more peaceful race, who minds their own business. Some believe they hold magical powers, while others believe those powers are only of nature (controlling winds, water, etc). To make them different than wizards, we are going with the nature theory and expect you to as well. Oh, and pointed ears too, and a slight majestic glow to them. They also can be quick and light on their feet, not necessarily overly strong, but able to climb land run like the speed of light (faster than perhaps a vampire or werewolf).

III. OCCUPATIONS


There are many occupations available for your character, however if you want to be a student/professor/ministry there is a spot for you to select and it will redirect you. When your create your character application, you are requested to choose an occupation; upon submitting that application you are agree to the terms following the occupation and understand we reserve the right to take that occupation from you under the terms of unlawful and inactive actions.

School Related:
  • Professor
  • Student
  • Head Boy/Girl


Ministry Related:
  • Auror
  • Doctor/Nurse
  • Order Leader
  • Muggle Affairs
  • Historian/Explorer
  • Lawyer
  • Veterinarian


All Others:
  • Quidditch Professional - This occupation is expected to play at any Quidditch World Cups, any public media events such as shoots, autograph-signing and school assemblies. Remember, you may be a Pro, but you are not the best and you won't always win the game. How games are won will be between Captains and the Headmaster. To be this, you must be 17 years or older, no exceptions.

  • Journalist / Writer - This is a pretty freelance occupation. If you want to have "written books" and have them placed in shops, you must contact those running the shops. If no one is, then go ahead. You also may be expected to contribute to plot updates/newsletter and or show up to school assemblies, and autograph-signing events.

  • Shopkeeper / Bartender / Fashionista / Merchandise - If you want to own an already made shop in Diagon Alley or Golden Village (modern day Hogsmeade) then feel free to mention so upon your application. However, with that you are expected to make an inventory for people to purchase items. If you want to make your own shop, you must describe exactly what you're wanting to create and where to the Deputy Headmistress, it may or may not be approved, upon that you too must have an inventory. A fashionista, is basically anyone in the fashion industry who would like to work on model runways, photoshoots, magazine advertisements, etc. Bartender must be 20+ years and work at an already made club/bar or make their own, with that a drink inventory.

  • Actor / Singer: You will star in moves, either acting or singing or both. You are expected to appear at school activites upon request, or special public events like concerts or award shows.

  • Artist: You may be a Picasso or an everyday slum, it's up to you. You may create paintings and "sell" them, this can also go OOC (Out of Character) if you like graphic design and would like to make some images for members or the forum in general. Pretty board opportunities here.

  • Stay at Home Mom/Dad: Pretty self explanatory. If you choose this, you are expected to have a house (which you can apply for if another area of this thread) and have children, whether they are separate accounts (if they are older) or you play them on your single account (if they are very young) is up to you.

  • Duelist: This is a pretty fun occupation. You will participate in duels either with your hands, weapons or creatures. You are expected to be knowledgeable in duel and combat as well as creature control and may be asked to come give an interview for a school class and/or assembly.

  • Criminal / Murderer: This is a very fun one too. You get to steal, sneak, spy and kill. However, with killing you must have permission from the character own, and you may be requested to work with a forum plot and maybe imprisoned for one thread.

  • Unknown / Other: If you choose this option, then you don't know what you want to do or want to remain anonymous. If you have an idea for an occupation that isn't listed here, then please let a Headmaster know and they will see to approve or disapprove.


Remember this is a basis, it doesn't mean that every post has to be you killing someone or playing with a two year old, it just means you do have to include those things into your character's plots but not revolve completely around it.

IV. BOWITTS SCHOOL OF CULTURAL CRAFT


If you read the plot, you will understand this school was made over the remains of Hogwarts and has implemented many of the same ideas, places and activities. The school was named after Bowman Wright, who created the Golden Snitch. Before we get into the main ideals of the school, let's get the occupations overwith.

Occupations
  • Student - When you apply for this occupation, you will be sorted into a house dependent on how you replied to the writing prompt. The houses are pretty similar to previous, and what they are will be described farther down. As a student, you are expected to go to class, and if the Professor requests, do homework and a test later on. You may choose your classes, which have changed a little, and are described farther down as well.

  • Head Boy/Girl - You are also a student, but you also help manage activities periodically and patrol the grounds (boards) of inappropriate activity such as people posting in the wrong dormitory, R rated material, god-modding, etc. If such arises, you report to a Mentor who will take care of it.

  • Professors - You may choose from any of the classes that are available and you must know the subject well. You will be expected to have a class once a month, and must schedule it three weeks in advance, with a lesson plan in mind but doesn't have to be fully developed until a week before the scheduled class, where you will post a preview in your classroom thread for students to view. You are expected to create guidelines and rules for your class room. If you want to assign homework, then it must be done and in reward students can earn house or galleons, the amount is up to you without favoring one house over another. After three classes (three months) you are required to give a test on all of the material taught over the three classes, and then an accumulative test at the end of the school year.


Bowitts Houses
  • Dorian (like Ravenclaw, named after Dumbledore for his cleverness, mascot is a Phoenix)
  • Valden (like Slytherin, named after Voldemort for his strength, mascot is a Snake)
  • Potieran (like Gryffindor, named after Potter for his courage, mascot is an Owl)
  • Severen (like Hufflepuff, named after Snape for his loyalty, mascot is a Doe)


Bowitts Classes
  • World History (includes all race history) - REQUIRED for all races.
  • Sky and Life (Astronomy / Astrology / Divination) - Elective to ANY year.
  • Magicraft (Object Transfiguration / Charms / Witchcraft / Wizardry / Jinxes) - REQUIRED to all wizards and witches.
  • Magical Creatures (like Care of Magical Creatures, except not the "care" and also allows highly dangerous animals like dragons to be introduced) - Elective: Only 6th and 7th years may attend.
  • Defense against Dark Arts (no "the" / deals with the Dark Arts in Magic / Dark Arts inside Vampires and Werewolves) - REQUIRED for all races.
  • Body Works (Body Transfiguration / Health / Sex Ed) - Elective: Only 6th and 7th years may attend.
  • Potions (with Herbology) - REQUIRED for all races.
  • PEF: Physical Education and Flying (Gym / Combat / Flying) - Elective: must be 6th or 7th year to attend Combat, and must be a wizard or witch to attend Flying.
  • Language (English / Elven / Runes / French / German) - Elective
  • Life Planning (Career Planning / College / Occupations / Housing / Parent Hood) - Elective: Only 6th and 7th years may attend.


Other
  • Common Rooms and Dormitories - You may only be in the house that is your house, and boys, stay OUT of the girls dorms.
  • Quidditch - rosters will be made by captains and you can try out for a position.
  • You are expected to attend all major school activities.
  • Golden Valley - its a new rendition of Hogsmeade, and you can visit any time.

V. MINISTRY OF MAGIC


More important and advanced occupations reside within the Ministry, and because they are important powerful, they're occupations harder to receive and more strictly watched. If you are a young adult, having just graduated than getting such a high position in the ministry is a lot harder to recieve, because it takes skill and experience to handle each position. However, you can take an internship for your occupation, and work with someone who is fully qualified for the position, to watch and learn. However, you can try to go for the position just need to show SS that you know what you're doing and can be trusted.

Occupations
  • Auror - this position deals with all crime, criminals, murderers, any ministry terrorist breach and muggle authorities. You are expected to handle your authority and power responsibly and if not, this right can be taken away. You must fully understand all aspects of Dark Arts and be fairly educated on the history of it as well. If there are interns, you are expected to partner up and work with one, show them the ropes, etc.

  • Doctor/Nurse - you must understand the body of all races, understand medicines, potions, medical spells and even muggle medical tactics. A doctor must do whatever he can to save a life but can understand when one has lost the patient. A nurse must assist the doctor, and is considered an intern until they become a doctor, unless you specifically want to just be a nurse. If you're an intern and don't want to be called a nurse, "medical intern" should suffice.

  • Order Leader - This can be good or bad. Even though the bad are most likely not going to work with the ministry, more so against, to make one the sign up his here. You must have a plan, and three other characters (not your own) who are willing to work this order with you. You must have a name and there can be no more than one good and one bad order. If there is an order already established by a leader, you will be a member. You must be 20+ years in order to run an order, however 30+ is encouraged.

  • Muggle Affairs - this department focuses on all muggle discrepancies, news and information. However, by this time frame muggles and wizards know of each other but there are still disputes and what not.

  • Historian/Explorer - this person will report anything new that has been found, like remains of the previous ministry, Hogwarts and other magical places. Those are considered artifacts and must be turned in to office.

  • Lawyer - this person will either represent the defendant or the prosecutor whenever there is law suits and/or trials with a member of the community. They can also work to pass certain laws, however none are guaranteed to be accepted.

  • Veterinarian - must know the body of all magical creatures and how to deal with them, tame them, and cure them. You may be asked to have a career interview at a school, or assist duelers at the animal fight pit. Must understand with medicine, spells and muggle medical tactics.

VI. FAMILY and HOUSING


So you decided to make a family! How cute. Or, you decided to rent a flat with your mates? Well all is possible! In order to get a flat or house you must have been a member here for atleast four months. However, there are other requirements for the two:

House:
In order to have a house in the neighborhood (which is a sub-board) you must have atleast five people (who aren't your characters) who are going to live in the house. There is a fee, and it is 120 galleons a month (approx. 20 posts a month) and you can choose to have the board passworded.

Flat: In order to have a flat in the apartment complex (which is a sub-board) you can't have more than four people (who aren't your characters) however, you can only have one person there. There is a fee, and it is 90 galleons a month (approx. 15 posts a month) and you can choose to have the board passworded.

To sign up for a house or flat apply within the main board: Neighborhood or Lexham Garden's Flats.

If rent cannot be paid every month, the house or flat will be demolished and you will be kicked to the curb, no matter how many kids you have (or threads for that matter).

VII. PLOT UPDATES


To give characters something to respond to uniformly, rather than just their own sub-plots, every two months we will have a plot update, may be major or minor and you can choose how to react to it. If your character's occupation has been noted to be involved in updates, then you will be contacted a near month before the plot is to be submitted, to be help come up with an idea for the plot and to help execute it (that means, responding to it with your character and getting others involved int it).

All forum plot updates are found in the Plot Capital or under the Announcements just above any stickied thread on every board.

If there are huge plot updates, the site may go into maintenance mode for a day or two and we expect you to wait patiently with us, because if it's large enough to cause a MM then it is something you're surly going to love.

If you want to volunteer to help with plot updates automatically, contact a Headmaster immediately, we'd love to hear your ideas!

Here's a list of current staff members, if there is a position you are interested in fulfilling (that is available) please feel free to submit a short application in the Character Creation board. We can use all the help we can get! If all positions are filled, but you think we could use another, then feel free to apply anyway, you may just change our minds.
